Whenever we celebrate a birthday at work the person who's birthday it is has to bring in the cakes, most go via the supermarket, but I'd never get away with that - I have to bake - and naturally muffins are what's expected. In honour of it being a BIG birthday, everyone had worn Purple - because one of my favourite poems is entitled 'When I am old I shall wear purple' by Jenny Joseph. I had planned to wear purple for a laugh anyway, and I was even considering how to make the muffins purple, but that wasn't going to happen as time got the better of me! In the end I baked Sticky Lemon Drizzle muffins - on request to my boss; and a new one - Apple and Cinnamon Crunch (with home grown apples courtesy of someone from work).As for my birthday cake - that was created by my dear friend Rose - it was a Chocolate Guiness Cake - and if i get the recipe off her i'll print it here - it was incredibly moist, sticky and chocolatey - the perfect remedy to getting older.
