Well I'm sorry about the delay in posting - but I haven't been baking anything new, if at all lately. I have put that right this evening though with some yummy looking pear and nutmeg muffins (recipe to follow).
I did however spend the weekend attempting some vegetarian dishes for my brother who came to stay to attend the funeral procession of King Richard III, and being as I work at the school closest to the site of the battle we were asked to form a guard of honour around Dadlington Green. It was quite a sight having thousands of people descend on such a tiny village. I have never had to queue to cross a stile before!
During the weekend we also discovered the whereabouts of one of our ancestors who had been killed by a tennis ball - yes I did type 'tennis ball'. Back at the end of the 15th Century tennis was obviously a lot more dangerous than it is today. A monument to John Stanley can be seen in the parish church in Elford, Staffs.
What with that and having a partial eclipse of the sun life has been a bit too busy to invent new muffin flavours. Here I am using a colander as a pin hole camera to view the eclipse.
